Fall 2009
Welcome to 2010!
Region 1 has a lot of exciting things planned for 2010 and lots of opportunities for those who would like to get involved. And we want all of you to get involved. We have a new Youth Director – Haley Harrington, and a new Vice Director – Lauren Sussman. They have a lot of fun events planned for shows throughout the Region. Haley’s email is horseyhabits@cox.net. Both Haley and Lauren would love to hear from you. They will be traveling to Colorado for the AHYA Board meeting in March, so now is your time to give them input.
Trail Ride – Dave Murphy is planning a Regional trail ride for April. Want to know more? Come to the Region 1 meeting on February 27th.
So you ask, where do I go for this meeting, here’s the info:

Region 1 Show – The show committee is already hard at work on the Regional Show and have some very exciting things planned for the 2010 show. We are still working on making the show fun for everyone. We will be having a fun Thursday – the progressive dinner is back, and new for 2010 we will be having Gambler’s Choice Trail and Freestyle Dressage in the evening session. We have changed the Star classes, the winner still takes home $750 but the classes have been designated already. Check to see which classes and if you have a horse that can win it all. If you would like to participate in the progressive dinner, please contact Mary Ann Hughes – mah77@aol.com. Did I mention the premium book? It will be printed and distributed with the Modern Arabian Horse magazine. Look for it bundled with the Feb/March issue of the magazine.
Website – Don’t forget to check the CALENDAR!! All of the Regional activities, plus shows and club activities can be put on the calendar. Please let me know if you would like to have your club’s activities placed there. We are looking to expand the website and utilize it considerably more in the future. The website address is: www.aharegionone.org.
AHA — by now you probably have heard about the various fee increases that the board passed. Fee increases are never popular, nor are they easy for a board to do. But in our current economic situation, they were necessary. Please support your local club so they will continue to exist and we can have fun with our Arabian horses at our local level. In closing, this year will still be a tough one for both Region One and the Arabian Horse Association. But, we have some exciting things on the horizon and I believe we will come out of these trying economic times stronger and smarter.
Thanks!
See you at the February Regional meeting
